Experience Details:

Saloni is the founder of DesiCrew, a for-profit organization employing over 300 people that’s focused on creating knowledge-based livelihood opportunities in small towns and rural areas. DesiCrew’sclient list includes A list of customers such as Google, Walmart, Infosys, HDFC Life,ICICI Prudential, AOL, Hungama Digital to name a few. DesiCrew raised an Angel round in 2008 and subsequently 2 rounds of Institutional funding from Venture East andResponsAbility. Saloni stepped down as the CEO in March 2012 to hand over to a professional management team and continues to participate on the Board.

In 2012, Saloni co-founded Safecity, a voluntary citizen’s initiative to create an online database of abuse and harassment in India and find way to engage citizens to change the status quo with respect to sexual abuse in public places.

Saloni also mentors Traveller Kids, a young start-up that creates edu-taiment toys for 7-12 years olds and is an Advisor to Start Up!, a social business incubator in Delhi.

An engineer from Pune University, she previously worked with WebChutney, an interactive media start-up. Her initiatives atDesiCrew have been acknowledged with several awards such as TiE Stree Shakti, Business in Development, Manthan Award and Sankalp to name a few
